  • Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2010 - TEC (The Executive Committee) Detroit, a membership-based organization that delivers valuable direction through a unique blend of tools and resources to business leaders, today announced its corporate name change to Vistage Michigan. The announcement was made by organization CEO and Chairman Robert Holland.

"As the local world partner of Vistage International, which is the world's leading chief executive organization, we are pleased to have changed our name to align with our corporate identity," said Holland. "In 2006, the name Vistage was created through a combination of the words 'vista' and 'advantage.' It is a reference to the valuable perspectives CEOs of businesses and organizations are afforded at the top."

Through Vistage Michigan, small to mid-size business owners and chief executives gain direct and immediate access to unparalleled ideas and thinking. From one-on-one business coaching, intimate peer-to-peer workshops, and presentations from top industry executives, to advisory boards of CEO peers, extensive online libraries of content and beyond, Vistage Michigan provides its members with actionable knowledge that cannot be replicated by any university, traditional workshop or networking organization.

Vistage Michigan currently operates 12 Chief Executive (CE) Groups in southeast Michigan comprised of approximately 16 members per group, including a group chair who is a highly experienced business leader. The chair acts as the advisor for each CE group and business mentor to each individual member.

"Clearly, it is not 'business as usual' as we begin the gradual recovery from the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression," adds Holland. "Business leaders throughout southeast Michigan have endured among the nation's worst, and today require 'hands-on' direction far beyond rhetorical lectures on business theory, fragmented workshops and part-time continued education."

Studies by Dun & Bradstreet/Vistage and the Corporate Research Board have shown that Vistage Members make better decisions, achieve greater results and are better business leaders compared to the time before they joined. To become a group member, a CEO needs to be invited and cannot work in an industry that is already represented in that particular group.
In 1957, a Milwaukee businessman founded TEC to organize a group of non-competing executives and improve their business effectiveness. Members met monthly and shared ideas, experiences and provided each other with suggestions for individual improvement. Today, Vistage International consists of 8,700 U.S. members and 5,800 within 16 countries worldwide.
