Teamwork and Dedication Proves to be a Winning Combination for Award Recipients
Powerstone team members won four awards at the Annual CAI-Orange County Awards Banquet.
- (1888PressRelease) February 21, 2019 - Powerstone Property Management Inc., a full-service Orange County, California based property management firm, announced today that, through hard work and persistence, its team members were the recipients of four awards at the Annual CAI-Orange County Awards Banquet.
Surrounded by fellow CAI members that included property management professionals and Board Members, the evening began with the award of Community Association Board Member of the Year, Rookie Category to Pinecrest Community Association’s Board President, Lynn Branch. Powerstone proudly manages this beautiful community and Lynn has been instrumental in creating a sense of community to Pinecrest in her first year serving as President. She spent hours reviewing Association documents, ensuring that she was prepared for the role and that she would serve her fellow residents well. Lynn’s neighbors look to her for guidance and insight about the community and she has proven to be a model Board member for Powerstone.
Robert Spillar, a 20-year Board member for Westpark Maintenance Association, was awarded the prestigious Board Member of the Year, Hall of Fame Category. Each month, Bob, Westpark’s Board President, runs the Board meetings as a leader and uses his vast knowledge of the community to assist the Board in its decision making. He is instrumental in preparing the annual budget, ensuring the monthly assessments are fair and affordable. In addition to being diligent in his efforts for the community, Bob has also been elected to the CAI – Orange County Board of Directors.
“Powerstone is pleased that two of our hardworking Board Members were recognized for their volunteer efforts on behalf of their communities,” states Rene Decker, CEO. “Our Board members are vital to the health of an HOA and we are proud to work alongside Bob and Lynn to ensure their respective HOAs shine for years to come.”
Community managers are the lifeblood of our industry in that they are on the front lines working with the homeowners, Board of Directors and vendors. Powerstone instills a second to none work ethic and that was evident in the awarding of the Manger of the Year, Rookie Category to Katin Horan. As a first-year manager, Katin has proven to be a strong and knowledgeable partner to her Board of Directors. She strives to ensure any issue that arises in her communities is tended to quickly and efficiently. She educates and advises her Boards of Directors so they are confident in their governing decisions.
“Coming into the property management industry can be difficult for some who are not used to the amount of work the job entails, though Katin has proven to be a quick-study and is able to take on any task,” said Bree Harrington, Director of Community Management. “This award is well deserved and we are so proud that others see Katin as an up and coming leader in our industry.”
Powerstone’s very own COO, Debbie Evans was honored with the Speaker of the Year award, alongside her co-presenter Sandra Gottlieb for their educational seminar discussion on the challenging topic of “Race, Religion, Sex, Age & Disabilities in Our Communities.” Debbie has been in the industry since 1989 and is responsible for the operations, training and support to Powerstone employees. She is viewed as an expert in her field and used her knowledge of the industry to give insight and tips to managers on how to navigate through uncomfortable topics that are often prevalent in management.
Many other team members were nominated for awards and Powerstone would like to congratulate them: Community Manager of the Year – Rookie Category - Stephen Coffaro, Community Manager of the Year – Veteran Category - Brianna Hamilton, Bree Harrington, Josh Hodosh, Danielle Hoff, Melissa Pease and Danielle Romero.
“This was a record setting year from adding new team members, welcoming new communities and receiving honors through the year,” states Kendrah Kay, Vice president of Community Management, “We are honored that our industry peers and business partners would nominate our team members for these awards. We congratulate all the winners that evening and look forward to many years of partnership in this industry.”
