Team Peri to Hold Gift of Life Marrow Registry Drive and Bowling Tournament to Save Lives

(1888PressRelease) November 13, 2018 - Approximately every three minutes, a child or adult in the United States is diagnosed with a type of blood cancer. To help the patients that will need a lifesaving marrow transplant, Team Peri will hold a marrow donor recruitment drive and bowling tournament on November 18 to register potential donors.

The drive, held on behalf of Gift of Life Marrow Registry, and tournament will be at Woodmere Lanes, 948 Broadway, Woodmere, N.Y. from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Celebrities scheduled to appear include SNY sports analyst and former N.Y. Peri Finkelstein, 17. has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy and is trached and on a ventilator 24/7. She is mobile via an electric wheelchair. When she was just four months old, Peri’s parents, Lori and Paul Finkelstein, were told their daughter’s condition was “hopeless and that physical therapy was pointless.”

“We truly believe that we have a strong connection to the Gift of Life organization, and our Team Peri family can empathize with other families who are in what feels like a helpless medical situation,” said Lori Finkelstein. “This is exactly why Team Peri wants to swab for life to save the lives of the ones who need the help, and need to have a chance to live a long and healthy life.”

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the donor drive. A simple swab from the inside of your cheek is all it takes to determine if you are a match. If you are between the ages of 18 and 45 and in general good health, you are eligible to be screened and join the worldwide registry for patients in need.
