Team Jagriti at MICA Brings Smiles to Children with Learning Difficulties
This Independence Day, Jagriti- the Social Service wing of MICA launched its first initiative "Muskaan" which Endeavour's to bring little joys into some very special lives.
- (1888PressRelease) August 22, 2013 - The team tied up with an organization called The Prabhat Education Foundation for this event.
The Prabhat Education Foundation, Ahmedabad, reflects a journey that began in 2003 through the identification and nurturing of children with learning difficulties. Prabhat programs seek to bring about positive changes in the lives of these children by building their skills, knowledge and self-confidence.
Jagriti in collaboration with Prabhat Foundation seeks to fulfill these children's small wishes through the week long drive. The initiative involves establishing a 'one-to-one connect' between MICANs and the kids with a student/faculty contributing for the welfare of a child each. The idea is to create a sustainable bond between the enrolled MICAn and the child she/he has pledged support for.
On 16th August, MICAns were pleasantly surprised to find Jagriti volunteers sporting aprons that stated 'Muskaan- MICAns. Gifts. Smiles.' and serving food. A wish board outside the mess listed 113 potential items such as toys and stationery that could be donated by each MICAn to these kids. The students chose the gift they wished donate and wrote their names besides it and thus established their first connect with the Prabhat Foundation.
Team Jagriti was successful in generating an overwhelming response owing to the participation and generosity of MICAns and all 113 items were pledged for sponsorship. Elated with the overwhelming response, the team is planning to source rakhis made by students of a blind girl's school next.
So it is indeed true that MICA is a place where all wishes, however small or large, come true!
