Tata Coffee felicitated at "FE-EVI Green Business Leadership Award 2010-11"
Tata Coffee, India's largest coffee producer and exporter has been awarded the FE-EVI Green Business leader ship award in the "Low Energy Sector" category . The "FE-EVI Green Business Leadership Award 2010-11" is conducted jointly by The Financial Express and Emergent Ventures India, wherein top three companies in each of the energy intensive sectors are felicitated for their work.
- (1888PressRelease) June 10, 2011 - The awards are given to Leaders for pioneering work in their sectors. The award was presented by his Excellence Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in the presence of the Guest of Honor of the Evening Dr.Farooq Abdullah at a glittering award ceremony held in New Delhi.
Tata coffee has been acknowledged as an excellent case where Biodiversity conservation is done in a way that it becomes profitable for the environment, society as well as for the company. Introduction of new crops, better utilization of waste for augmenting soil fertility, efforts to conserve fauna habitat and involvement of the local community have been the key aspects of the Biodiversity conservation.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Hameed Huq, MD, Tata Coffee said, "We are delighted to have been awarded the highest honor in the" Low energy sector" category. Tata Coffee is committed to building sustainability and is constantly identifying opportunities for greening its business."
He further added, "it is important to realize that the task of environment protection is a universal responsibility of all."
The Awards Jury comprised of eminent policy makers, industry leaders, academicians and thought leaders. The other short-listed nominees in the Low Energy Sector were L'Oreal India, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., I.T.C Ltd, Cognizant Technology Solutions and HSBC India. The winners, three each from high-energy and low-energy intensive sectors, had been short-listed and selected from premier companies across the country.
