  • (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2011 - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to increase its 2012 budget to 8.4 billion baht, which is an increase of 60% as compared to 2011 budget. This increase in budget will be used to drive international tourist arrivals to 30 million, generating revenue of 2 trillion baht for the Thailand tourism industry in four years time.

    According to TAT Governor, Suraphon Svetasreni, international tourist arrivals to Thailand in 2012 are expected to increase to about 20 to 24 million, generating 958.12 billion baht in revenue. On average, the number of tourist arrivals grows at 12% every year.

    "Thailand is a popular travel destination for international visitors," commented Jarrat Beaumont, Group Sales Director of Castlewood Group, a commercial real estate developer based in Singapore. "Tourists usually visit places such as Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui when they are in Thailand."
