Tanzania Revenue Authority launches Electronic Cargo Tracking System implemented by Techno Brain.
- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) March 28, 2012 - Techno Brain, a leading software development company in Africa, has announced the official launch of Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) at Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) on March 12, 2012 by Commissioner General, Mr. Harry Kitilya at Dar es Salaam.
Customs and Excise department of Tanzania Revenue Authority needed an Electronic Cargo Tracking System to monitor the movement of trucks carrying goods that come under customs control from one point to another within Tanzania. All goods that are subjected to customs control under Section 6 of East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, need to be tracked with ECTS. However, TRA wanted to start with tracking of transit goods initially that includes Containerized goods transported on Trucks Rail, Wet Cargo by Road Tankers & Rail Tankers, etc. With the new system, TRA aims to effectively track movement of cargo transported within the region in real time and manage movement of containers through ports, inland container depots and bonded warehouses.
Techno Brain was selected by TRA to provide them with ECTS solution that will enable them to track and monitor movement of trucks, identify illegal diversion of goods, increase truck turnaround time, improve government revenue, enhance transparency & transit times and ensure safety of trucks & uninterrupted movement of goods within the region and the neighboring countries. After making a detailed study of TRA's requirement, Techno Brain has successfully implemented Transit Truck Monitoring System (TTMS), a specialized Electronic Cargo Tracking solution at their headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the official launch of Electronic Cargo Tracking System, Mr. Harry Kitilya, Commissioner General, TRA, said, "With this new system at place, we aim to effectively monitor movement of all trucks within the country, ensure that all cargo passing through Dar es Salaam port have obeyed all the required procedures including tax and duty payments and maximize revenue collection of the government." He also added, "This system will help to facilitate successful competitive trade through effective utilization of advance cargo information by stakeholders and increase truck turnaround time."
"We are delighted to work with Tanzania Revenue Authority on this challenging project. We would look forward to provide our Electronic Cargo Tracking solution developed in partnership with our technology partner, ABAX International to transporters and government authorities across Africa in coming days", said, Rajeev Agarwal, IT Consulting & Business Automation Services Practice Director, Techno Brain.
