  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) April 06, 2020 - – Amidst this era of social distancing, volunteers are finding new ways to work together to create a better tomorrow. To facilitate dialogue and to share resources, the Tampa Bay Charity Coalition started an online Facebook group so charities can share their work with likeminded individuals.

The Facebook group is open to anyone interested in volunteering or charitable work and can be found under the name “Tampa Bay Charity Coalition Group.” The group shares good actions, good ideas, good tips and good works in general.

A study conducted by Carnegie Mellon University found that people who sent or received more messages, comments and Timeline posts reported improvements in social support, depression and loneliness. The positive effects were even stronger when people talked with their close friends online.

“We wanted a way to stay connected to our Coalition partners,” said Clemence Chevrot, the Community Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology. “Our goal with this on-line networking group is to connect charities in the Tampa Bay area and share good news and connect with one another. The response so far has been positive and I am excited to see this continue.”

“I love the members of the Charity Coalitions and meeting new people” said Julie Panton, Founder of Global Community Tennis Inc. a group that assists at risk youths with athletics. “Since we are not having meetings at the moment this is a great way to connect with new charities and find new ways to work together.”

“You will find that all kinds of people are part of the Tampa Bay Charity Coalition” said Clemence Chevrot. “Whether they feed the hungry, shelter the poor, soothe the children, stand up to bullies or safeguard our environment, they all strive to make a lasting difference in the community. I am grateful for the work they do and the joy they spread.”

The Tampa Bay Charity Coalition is a partnership of more than 200 charities, founded almost 6 years ago to bring non-profits together for networking and resource sharing.
