Tampa Bay Area's First Electric Vehicle Expo Hums into Tampa
Consumers get up close and personal with new electric cars and technology.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) February 11, 2012 - The Tampa Bay area is quickly establishing itself as a center for green car activity, as evidenced by a large number of charging stations already installed in the region. However, most consumers have limited exposure to the technology and vehicles available.
According to EV Expo Founder Victor Juarez, "Whether you're an enthusiast or just curious about eco-friendly vehicles, this event will be a fun and educational experience."
Attendees will be able to explore the full range of green alternative transportation-- from concept cars to purchase-ready vehicles, such as hybrids and electric conversions. The EV Expo is the first time Bay area consumers will get a chance to see the new Mitsubishi iMiEV, Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt among others.
"Mitsubishi is pleased to share our new, fully electric iMiEV with the Tampa Bay area at the International EV Expo. This is the perfect event to reach customers interested in fully electric vehicles," said Fuminori Kojima, Senior Manager, EV Operations Mitsubishi Motors North America.
Perhaps the most exciting display will be the EV drag racers from the National Electric Drag Racing Association (NEDRA). "People will be very surprised with how quick these EV dragsters are when they see them," said John Wayland, owner of NEDRA race team, Plasma Boy Racing. "We are excited to show what we can do."
Speakers at the EV Expo Forum will include Rick Sikes, fleet superintendent for the City of Santa Monica, who will discuss his city's experience with hybrids, electric and hydrogen-fueled vehicles. Also, speaker David Kerzal from the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council will explain how to safely charge vehicles at home. Fifteen other experts will discuss important topics during the three-day event.
