  • (1888PressRelease) December 22, 2011 - Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) today concluded the ten day seminar on Wind Solar hybrid systems / Solar Water heating systems / Biogas plants at Meenakshi College of Engineering, Kodambakkam, Chennai-24. A series of ten seminars at ten cities commenced on 12th of December 2011 and concluded on 21st December 2011. Mr. Sudeep Jain, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director TEDA and Mr. Dilip Nigam, Director MNRE participated.

    The objective of this ten day seminar was not just to create awareness among colleges and institutions but, also to adopt Renewable Energy as one of the fastest solution for our growing energy needs. More than 750 principals and correspondents from various renowned colleges and officials from MNRE participated in the seminars.

    Exclusive opportunities for Colleges and institutions to adopt Renewable Energy

    MNRE provides good subsidy (ranging from 30% to 75%) for installation of Solar Water Heating Systems and Wind-Solar Hybrid Systems through Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency.

    A Solar Water Heating system of 100 litres capacity saves 1500 units of electricity annually. MNRE provides subsidy as furnished below:

    Wind-Solar Hybrid System can be installed at the roof top and the area required for the installation of solar panel will be 8 sq.m/kw. The pay back will be around 7-8 yrs. MNRE provides subsidy as furnished below:

    Biogas generated from biogas plants can be used as a replacement of LPG towards cooking and other water heating applications. Also power generation can be achieved through biogas engines, for which MNRE provides subsidy @ Rs.40,000/- per KW:
