  • (1888PressRelease) November 23, 2011 - 2011 is looking to be a successful year for Tahiti Tourisme and we are pleased to announce that arrival figures to Tahiti and her islands have increased by 27% on average month on month since the beginning of 2011.

    -Tahiti Tourisme celebrated roadshow success
    The Tahiti Tourisme Roadshow enjoyed a successful week of trade events across Manchester and London in September. The tourist board received a positive turnout of 86 agents and tour operators across the two Manchester and London events. Guests were indulged in a night of traditional Tahitian entertainment and food.

    -Tahiti Tourisme UK sales and marketing manager, Sam Hancock said "the trade continues to be a major channel of communication to UK travellers for the destination and has a vital role in our overall strategy for tourism growth"

    -Air Tahiti announces more flights to Marquesas in December
    Air Tahiti, French Polynesia's domestic airline, announced more flights to the Marquesas Islands at the end of this year. The increased number of flights is mostly due to the Marquesas Islands Arts Festival, which takes place on 15th to 18th December on the island of Nuku Hiva. There will be 30 additional flights during that period. The Marquesas archipelago is located in the North East of French Polynesia, 1,500kms away from the island of Tahiti.     -Paul Gauguin Cruises announces multimillion-dollar renovation
    Paul Gauguin Cruises, operator of the highest-rated and longest continually sailing luxury cruise ship in the South Pacific, the m/s Paul Gauguin, announced the largest renovation in the ship's 14-year history. Scheduled for completion in January 2012, the US$7 million renovation will include extensive enhancements to both interior and exterior of the ship. For more information visit: pgcruises.com

    -Bora Bora Liquid Festival
    The Bora Bora Liquid Festival takes place annually in December and celebrates authentic Tahitian culture with an abundance of activities designed to transport you into the heart of French Polynesia.

    -Giada de Laurentiis in Bora Bora
    32 years ago, for the purpose of making his movie Hurricane, the famous Director Dino De Laurentiis built bungalows and facilities which would later become the Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach & Private Island.
    In September of this year, the hotel was chosen by Giada, his granddaughter and also the host of the cooking show Giada at Home broadcasted on the Food Network in the United States for the filming of a special "Giada in Paradise " to be aired in January.     -The spectacular transit of Venus in Tahiti
    A rare and important phenomenon will occur in the beginning of June 2012, Venus will pass exactly between the earth and sun, crossing the disk of the solar star. After an eight year hiatus, this will be Venus' last performance of the century, with the next one not until 2117.

    Experts have said that one of the best transit-entire-visibility viewpoints will be in the Pacific, between Tahiti and Japan.
