Derman, Thompson & Knight's International Energy Practice Group Leader, will chair and present at the upcoming "International Boundary Disputes and Unitisation Summit." The 2nd annual summit, which is put together by the Center for Energy Sustainability and Economics ("CESE"), will be held October 17-18, 2012 at the Sheraton in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Approximately 60 government officials, state negotiators, and oil and gas company representatives are expected to attend the conference, which was organized following PetroVietnam's protests of the Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation's announcement to invite international bids for nine oil and gas lots within Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. According to Frank Mercado, Director of the CESE, "This international conference aims to achieve the vision of expediting the process of dispute resolution and commercialise oil and gas reserves in an amicable and efficient manner within contested boundaries and Vietnam was chosen as the next location due to the urgency of the matter."
