We are thrilled to help Laura support her charity, while offering her the opportunity to enjoy the luxury of a Cadillac, William Bridges, President
(1888PressRelease) July 28, 2010 - ATLANTA - Buckhead "T-Ball mom" Laura Coleman converted a promotional new-car test drive into a $1,000 donation to breast cancer research today at the Capital Cadillac dealership in Cobb County.
Coleman was the winner of the social media-driven Capital Cadillac of Test Drives competition, which guaranteed a $1,000 donation to the winner's charity of choice. Coleman chose the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure-a 60-mile run-walk event scheduled for October.
Capital Cadillac President William Bridges presented a $1,000 check to Coleman at a ceremony at the dealership Monday morning.
"We are thrilled that we could help Laura support a charity that means a lot to her, while offering her the opportunity to enjoy the luxury of a Cadillac," Bridges said afterward.
On the Road Again
The mother of two young boys, Coleman has supported the breast cancer charity for several years, usually through the annual Race for the Cure 5K. "As a woman, it was a cause that became close to my heart," she said.
Breast cancer took on more personal relevance when "two of my best girl friends' moms were diagnosed with breast cancer almost two years ago," Coleman said. "I'm happy to say that they are both survivors and doing great."
This year, for the first time, Coleman will team with friends to participate in 3-Day for the Cure. Capital Cadillac's $1,000 donation will count toward her $2,300 personal fundraising goal.
The Cadillac of Test Drive promotion selected 32 community "influencers" to test drive brand new vehicles. On a blog page set up on the dealership's website, participants uploaded photos and described their driving experiences. Coleman won the promotion by skillfully using Facebook and other social media to solicit the most hits, or "votes,"-1,525 over a two-week period.
Coleman test-drove a "gorgeous red" SRX luxury compact SUV, taking family members and several close friends along for the ride. Of her girlfriend passengers, "We all have 2+ children each, so we all gushed about how great the car is for car seats, boosters, t-ball equipment, etc.," she blogged.
Coleman admits it was her first experience driving a Cadillac. "I was amazed," she said. "It had the perfect amount of room and space, and was very high-tech. Capital Cadillac was wonderful-so easy to work with. They even gave me a 10-minute tutorial on how the car works."
