Swisscom one of the world's sustainability leaders in telecoms
According to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Swisscom is one of the five global sustainability leaders in telecoms. It owes this achievement to its successful sustainability strategy and above all its strong commitment to supply chain sustainability and to promoting easy access to telecommunications for all sections of the population.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index compares the sustainability performance of over 3,200 companies worldwide. According to the study Swisscom is one of the five leading telecoms companies in terms of sustainability and was recently included in the Index. Swisscom has managed to improve on the good results achieved in the last few years, most notably in the sustainability of its supply chain and by promoting easy access to telecommunication for all sections of the population. Supply chain risks are now systematically evaluated and partner companies monitored in order to ensure human rights and ecological criteria are respected. In addition, Swisscom further expanded its offerings in the field of media literacy last year, leading to a steady increase in the number of people participating in its media courses.
"Swisscom's good ranking in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is proof that it is on the right track with its sustainability commitment and will help the company to differentiate itself successfully in the market," said Kathrin Amacker, Head of Group Communications and responsible for sustainability management at Swisscom. The company has set itself ambitious sustainability goals for the coming years as well. By 2015 Swisscom aims to boost energy efficiency compared to the beginning of 2010 by a further 20%, reduce CO2 emissions by a further 10%, expand its portfolio of climate-friendly products and services and further increase media literacy.
