Swisscom and ICTnet make a key contribution to promoting young talent and innovation by awarding the best thesis in the area of ICT with a prize of CHF 10,000.
The Swisscom Innovation Award is an incentive for ambitious students in the fields of information and communication technology. The Award recognises bachelor’s or master’s theses which contain practical results and findings and which show an exceptional level of commitment. This year's winning project “Primevote – End to End Verifiable Internet Voting for Annual General Meetings" was compiled by Halm Reusser and Christoph Galliker at the Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil (Rapperswil School of Engineering). Primevote enables online voting at annual general meetings, optimally combining existing e-voting protocols in order to fulfil the special requirements of shareholder meetings.
This year 17 different projects were submitted and evaluated. The work is examined and assessed based on various criteria. Above all, the jury looks for a consistent focus on a subject from the area of information and communication technologies. Equally important is that the thesis is informative, creative and feasible. The findings and results must also have a clear practical dimension (business relevance). After being shortlisted, the three most convincing projects were selected and presented by the authors to a five-person jury.
The Swisscom Innovation Award aims to promote young talent and reward outstanding achievement, and is presented every year to either an individual or a team. Prize winners not only receive a financial reward but also improve their chances on the job market and in their professional life.
