Swell 23: A Groundbreaking Weekend Celebrating Women In The Outdoors
Swell is a first-of-its kind, women-focused outdoor event taking place in Ogden Valley. Attendees will spend the weekend camping in the company of like-minded women with hands-on workshops, fun activities, and a market of women-forward outdoor brands.

The campout will take place Sept 15-17 and offers a balance of workshops, hands-on activities, and a marketplace filled with women-owned outdoor brands. With a schedule that includes bike rides, night sky tours and skill clinics, there will be something for everyone.
Swell is put on by Outspring, whose owner Tami Jo Benson has a deep passion and connection to the outdoors. During a life-changing 1600-mile all-women rally race where navigation is done through only a compass and map, a question formed in her mind. It was easy to find women in the outdoors–but why was it so hard to find women’s needs being addressed or women’s experiences represented in the outdoor industry?
“Swell brings together these women-forward solutions and the women who make them in a way that connects us to each other,” Benson says. “That helps us see how we can support and elevate each other in this process of getting outside and connecting with nature.”
The campout will take place at Weber County’s North Fork Park in the Ogden Valley, just one-hour north of Salt Lake City. Attendees will camp festival-style, immersing participants in nature and community, and there are also private campsites and yurts available.
Swell is also looking for women-forward outdoor brands and groups that have +50% women in leadership roles to participate as vendors. Information on applying to be a vendor can be found here. Collaborating with the Western Colorado University Outdoor Industry MBA, vendors and industry professionals can look forward to a comprehensive day of programming focused on brand enhancement, valuable networking, and fostering entrepreneurial growth.
“We’ll hit the trail, we’ll be inspired by the night sky, we’ll tell stories around the campfire,” Benson says. “There is magic when women get together outside.”
