Sweeney and AM Performance Return to Action at Laguna Seca
GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
- (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2011 - P1 Groupe driver Mike Sweeney will return to action when the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge visits the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival Powered by Mazda this upcoming weekend. Sweeney and AM Performance have not been running the full series schedule this season and have not been in action since running at Virginia International Raceway earlier this season to focus on the continued development of their Nissan 370Z's. The team took time off after that race to focus on the production of their second Nissan 370Z that will debut this weekend as well. Sweeney will be the main driver in the teams #04 Nissan 370Z entry. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the home track for Sweeney and his team, and everyone is confident that the hard work they have put in on the production line will translate to a strong showing this weekend.
"I cannot wait to get back behind the wheel of the 370Z. AM Performance has been working very hard since our last outing to continue the development of our cars, and to complete the second car. We know this is a development year for our team, but our goals for success remain at the highest levels" states Sweeney.
The GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series will run at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca July 9th and coverage will be aired on SPEED Channel on July 17th at 1pm. All Times Eastern.
