Surfs Up for Global Girls Only Leadership Retreat Mother/Daughter Duo to Host YPO Girls Only Leadership Retreat
Mother and Daughter Duo to host YPO Girls Only Leadership Retreat in Maui, Hawaii
- (1888PressRelease) July 29, 2010 - Salt Lake City, UT…Empowerment, surf, sun and connection are the key components of the annual Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) Girls Only Leadership Retreat to be held Sunday, August 1 - Friday August 6 in Maui, Hawaii.
The YPO International Board selected YPO Utah member Elaine Pace, President of Sanoviv Medical Institute www.sanoviv.com to champion the event due to her extensive global connections, experience with teenagers in her former position as CEO of Girl Scouts of Utah and her willingness to volunteer her time and herself to make this event successful. "I completely support the efforts and initiatives of YPO, which illustrate the organization's mission Better leaders through education" said Pace. "And I accepted the position with two caveats. First, my husband's daughter Molly, 17 would be my Co-Champion and we would design the retreat with Molly and the YPO staff and second, that a service project would be incorporated into the week, allowing the girls to lead through volunteering to improve our world."
With Co-Champion on board, mom and almost-daughter Molly worked with Jill Kulhawy, an expert on relating with teenage girls, and the YPO team to design a week of surfing lessons, yoga, beach cleanup, in depth discussions about the girls' lives and interests, island excursions, and self-esteem workshops. YPO daughters aged 14-17 throughout the world will attend, including girls from Czech Republic, Australia and Vietnam.
"I am thrilled to Co-Champion this global retreat with my almost-mom, Elaine," said Molly. "Not only will this be a unique life changing experience on so many levels for us, I'll get to see my Elaine on a surf board!"
