Supporting the supporters: 12designer.com launches non-profit projects for NGOs
A new service has been introduced at 12designer, Europe's leading creative crowdsourcing platform: now NGOs will be able to receive design submissions in non-profit projects.
- (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2011 - Berlin - "Not everything in life is just about logos, market shares, design conventions and economic milestones: that's a thought that always has been present in 12designer's work and goals", said Eva Missling, 12designer's CEO and founder, to launch their new service: design projects for NGOs. "We know that it's part of our duty as a company to provide professional and dynamic design, but we're also concerned about those who provide real value to our platform and the world. That's why we place specific focus on start-ups and entrepreneurs and now, NGOs."
From today onwards, designers will have the chance of supporting NGOs by participating in non-profit projects, where no economic reward will be offered, and designers will donate the rights of use of the chosen design or idea to the NGO. Any NGO willing to participate in this new service just need to contact 12designer, who will verify the request and help the NGO with the publishing process.
12designer's community has enthusiastically supported the idea. In an open conversation with the administrators, they showed their interest and commitment to reinforce these type of associations which is logical, according to Missling, because it falls within the crowdsourcing nature.
"If you think carefully about it, you'll see the common bond between crowdsourcing and NGOs. Both models are based in collaboration between individuals: a group of committed persons acting together to offer a dynamic solution to a need. In different fields of course, but with the same spirit: believing in the power of a community rather than in an individual effort", Missling said.
The first NGO to take advantage of the service was Austrian charity association Hope For Dogs, which seeks a new home for abandoned Hungarian dogs. Help For Dogs received 77 proposals in a few days, indicating that this new service has found its place in the hearts of the designers.
12designer's design community is always eager to test new ideas and find creative challenges, as shown in a recent survey conducted within the community. This exciting new service for NGOs opens 12designer and their users to a brand new world of fulfilling non-profit participation.
