Support Earth Hour In A 'Big' Way At Singapore Expo

- (1888PressRelease) March 24, 2011 - Singapore - To join the global call to reduce carbon footprint and save the planet, Singapore EXPO is participating in Earth Hour on Saturday 26 March 2011. Neon lights at EXPO Foyer 1 and all other lights which are non-essential to the operations and safety of the venue, including ambient, flood, perimeter and walkway lights in some areas, will be switched off for an hour from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, 26 March. Additionally, wherever possible, all other lights will be dimmed for that duration.
Besides switching off its non-essential lights, EXPO also invites the public to sign on a giant Earth Hour banner outside Hall 5, to make pledge of protecting our planet.
The signing will take place on the following days, outside Hall 5 at Singapore EXPO:
- Saturday, 19 March 2011, from 3pm to 7pm
- Saturday, 26 March 2011, from 3pm to 9.30pm
The banner will be displayed at Singapore EXPO after Earth Hour for one week.
Earth Hour has become a global sustainability movement since 2007, with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating. This is the second year that EXPO is participating. Singex Venues Pte Ltd, which manages Singapore EXPO, sees Earth Hour as part of its corporate green efforts to conserve the environment.
In conjunction with Earth Hour activities at EXPO, a mini concert will be held outside Hall 5 from 5pm till 9.30pm on Saturday 26 March, featuring Project Super Star finalist Sugie Phua, local young music talents Cove Red, Wei Qian and Jenix.
