- (1888PressRelease) December 03, 2015 - Anya Damirón , the author of the beautifully illustrated and award winning children's book that took the Dominican Republic by storm, SuperNiños that was illustrated by Pablo Pino will be playing Santa Claus early this year by making a special presentation of the English version of the book, SuperKids to the children of Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary School at 851 SW 117th Avenue Miami, FL. The presentation and gift of books is part of Florida International University's College of Business Annual Holiday Book Drive. SuperKids with its message of learning and inclusion was selected as a book of choice by the book drive. The original Spanish version, SuperNiños won the coveted Moonbeam Children's Book Award for best Spanish language picture book. Exquisitely illustrated the 36-page SuperKids teaches children about inclusion, disabilities and no bullying, showing them that people with disabilities are defined by the amazing abilities they can develop and not by what they cannot do. The book highlights the positive and motivates others to respect diversity. Damirón and Pino developed the book with the mission to reach as many children as possible and inspire them to search for the best in each person they meet. SuperKids is ideal for classroom activities, as a holiday gift, and a story that children and parents can read together again and again.
"I am very honored and excited to be participating in the Florida International University's College of Business Holiday Book Drive, said Anya Damirón. "I am glad that SuperKids will be an early Christmas present for the children of Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary School. I can't wait to tell them about Ivan and all of the super kids in SuperKids.
"Both Pablo and I desire that the message of SuperKidss is spread to each and every child - that everyone is special and wonderful," continued Damirón. "Teaching this at an early age is essential, our book does it in a fun way that all children can relate to since our message is universal and knows no boundaries or barriers."
To help spread this message an animated version of SuperKids is available online at the website www.youaresuper.co and in Spanish at www.yosoysuper.com. There is also a donating section that allows people to help us give this book to children in need through organized institutions. At the festival, Damirón will be autographing all books that are sold.
SuperKids is the story of young Ivan who loves superheroes. His father reminds him that there is more to being a superhero than special powers and strengths, superheroes also have fears and insecurities. This valuable insight allows Ivan to see the superhero powers in fellow children who have disabilities. He learns that each of them has a superpower that allows them to be remarkable and special, that defines them.
SuperKids retails for $5.95. For $6.95, there is audio book that accompanies the book. Finally there is the Super Combo that retails for $15.00 that includes 2 books and a superhero cape with instructions, asking children to give the second book to a friend.
