  • (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2015 - Amel, a village in Betalghat, surrounded by forest & Tiger Reserve is a remote place on earth where the light of high tech civilization has never reached the aspiring children of the society. Not surprisingly, the place do not offer any computer education in nearby schools or as a privately-funded learning opportunity. The nearest facility that offers any of the sort is 5 Km away but that is not cost efficient & the facility in nearby town is very far from the location and it takes around 3 hrs by bus.

With the efforts of Fair Farming Foundation supported by Nature Bio-Foods Limited(NBFL) & Fair Trade, children are now getting a chance to learn computers and they can dream of competing with other world. The Computer Centre is now fully functional since May 2014.

Mr. Tapan Ray (CEO & MD, NBFL) said -The mission of Computer Education Centre is to make a positive difference in the lives of children primarily through educating them & achieving the highest standard of career-focused education & particularly it's a boon for those who are living in remote location.

Ms Pooja, a computer diploma holder from the same village, got the employment in the village itself as a trainer in this computer centre. She told "I live with my widowed mother along with my two sisters . I always wanted to supplement the family income & I am very happy today because I am earning between Rs 2500-3,000 per month as a trainer . My family is very happy and keep appreciating my efforts. I am thankful to Fair Farming Foundation for opening computer centre in our village as it empowered a simple village girl like me. There are many other students like me who would like to acquire some skill and help their families. I am so happy, Fair Farming Foundation is tapping their talent.

Mr. Amit Singh (Lead CSR, NBFL) mentioned "19 Number of children has already passed the 6 month training course with many success stories. The volunteer team too has grown and they are inspired to do more. The course is currently being taken by around 15 students. The number of students enrolled may sound less but considering the geographical location & how small this place is, it's a big achievement. But we are still aiming high to reach out to every children in nearby villages. He added, Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of merit from Fair Farming Foundation in the month of May 2015.
The model of the computer centre is self sustainable. A village level committee comprises of local farmers is formed to take care and to manage all operations of centre on daily basis. The course fee is also kept very low just in order to meet the trainer's salary.
