Christopher D. Bennett, president of Success Assured Inc. and partner advisor in Winfree Business Growth Advisors' Chicago West sales territory, recalls his first days promoting his new practice back in 2006, and how the sales advisory and sales training business has changed in Chicago over the past several years.

"I still remember that first BNI (Business Network International) meeting. I had been a salesman and sales trainer for years, but I think I was actually trembling when I delivered my first infomercial representing my Winfree services back in 2006. Two of the people I met in that first meeting ended up being my good friends, and eventually, paying clients.
For me, the biggest change in this marketplace has been the proliferation of laid-off trainers and executives who decided to get into the industry after 2009. Actually, there is plenty of business out there for all of us, but business owners have to be careful and make sure the coach they are hiring is competent.
