The Studio City, CA, LGBT community and supporters host a candlelight vigil and food drive to support the revocation of CA Prop 8.
On December 20th, we ask that you join us again for a demonstration that will make an impact on the private sector. Light Up the Night!
Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) December 20, 2008 - This Saturday, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, Studio City will enjoy Christmas carols when the "Light Up The Night" volunteer group holds a candle-light protest recognizing the lost gay right to marry revoked by Proposition 8. The event takes place at the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Ventura Boulevards.
Studio City lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered residents and friends are encouraged to join this peaceful vigil. Attendees are also encouraged to bring canned or packaged non-perishable food, as this event also culminates a season-long LGBT-sponsored holiday food drive. Volunteers will also be taping attendees to compile a "video petition" on how Prop 8 affects them and how they intend to contribute to the proposition's revocation.
Local volunteers working with political action group JoinTheImpact (http://jointheimpact.com) will hold similar events all across Los Angeles also on December 20.
Previous successful events coordinated by JoinTheImpact include the nationwide protest on November 15 against the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and the December 10 "Day Without a Gay" event. Another DOMA protest is scheduled for January 10, 2009.
