Students of Apeejay Institute of Design showcased their design collections in annual Graduate Show "Design Showcase 2011"
Apeejay Institute of Design, one of the premier fashion & design institutes in the country, successfully organized 9th edition of "Design Showcase 2011", an annual Graduate Show.
- (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - New Delhi: Apeejay Institute of Design, one of the premier fashion & design institutes in the country, successfully organized 9th edition of "Design Showcase 2011", an annual Graduate Show from 1st to 3rd December 2011 at its campus premises in New Delhi.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Lipika Sud, the Chairperson of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers, New Delhi. Mrs. Sushma Berlia, President, Apeejay Stya Group & Svrán Group and President, Apeejay Education Society lighted the candles during the inauguration ceremony.
"Design Showcase" is the annual Graduate Show for the final year students of Apeejay Institute of Design. This annual Graduate Show provides an opportunity for the budding designers from various fields of designing like Fashion Design, Interior Design, Textile Design and Graphic Design to showcase their creativity & work. It provides them a platform to make their footprint in the fashion & designing industry.
"Design Showcase 2011" witnessed live research & design projects undertaken by the graduating students. The showcase exemplifies the quality and standard of education imparted in the institute.
The Interior Design students have researched on some interesting topics reflecting lifestyles of today's fast paced generation. One of the interesting projects is on a range of Multi-functional Furniture which has a lot of relevance and application in today's shrinking spaces everywhere. A Waiting Lounge of an Airport, designed to match the international standards in both aesthetics and function. A Bowling Alley cum Bar, offering a relaxing zone for people to take a break from their stressful lives. Another interesting topic is Hookah Café designed to provide a Mughal inspired ambience to people. A Cafeteria of an MNC on Sustainable Design is created in keeping in mind the growing awareness about Green Architecture and Eco-friendly Practices.
Students from Graphic Design department have focused on designing an Ad Campaign for a noble cause such as Eye Donation to educate and motivate people for donating their eyes. Another student has accompanied the objective of Brand Building for Cadbury Dairy Milk for a specific target group. Another interesting Ad campaign was for Image Building of Tata DOCOMO for the Indian Market.
Textile Design department students have picked up innovative topics such as Shadows to design a range of furnishing products for a teenager's bedroom. Another student has designed living and dining area using Rajasthani Mandanas (folk style of Rangoli) in a stylized form.
Fashion Design students have attempted to offer an interesting mix of lines, comprising of contemporary clothing for men, women and kids inspired by a wide plethora of intriguing themes such as Vintage Cars, Holi-Splash of colors, Katran, Tangsa Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, Bagh prints of Madhya Pradesh, Puppets of Rajasthan, Hippie Fashion, Crochet, Phoenix.
A total of 45 research documents and live projects were on show. These were the original work of the students, who themselves conceptualized and fabricated it independently at the campus.
This colorful design exhibition was open for general public also. The designs created by the budding designers received huge applaud from the visitors.
