Stress Relaxation Test For HTS Wires Started For The First Time In North India
Spectro has become the first independent laboratory in INDIA to conduct successfully testing of 'Stress Relaxation Test' for HTS (High Carbon Stress Relief) Wires. Stress Relaxation is defined as the loss of stress in a material placed under stress and held at a constant strain.
- (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2012 - This is a very important aspect or property for prestressed and tensile structures. Due to the relaxation of steel, the prestress in the tendon is reduced with time. It is a well known fact that in steel tendons the higher the initial stress the higher the relaxation losses.
Spectro has become the first independent laboratory in INDIA to conduct successfully testing of 'Stress Relaxation Test' for HTS (High Carbon Stress Relief) Wires. Stress Relaxation is defined as the loss of stress in a material placed under stress and held at a constant strain.
This corroborates the need for the study of relaxation in prestressed concrete to calculate the loss in prestress. In prestressed concrete elements, the stress relaxation losses in steel tendons are of paramount importance to structural designs, and design codes place limits on initial prestress loads and also recommends keeping these losses within safe margins.
Spectro conducts testing of HTS wires for various industries and manufacturers with a strict adherence to the various national and international standards like IS 14268 (Relaxation Losses at 100 hours) and IS 6006 (Relaxation Losses at 1000 hours).
