Surprabhat is a Monthly Morning Music Festival! You heard it right! Surprabhat is coming to your city loud and clear to wake you up to the sounds of homegrown live music.
- (1888PressRelease) September 02, 2015 - Where else can you look for an inspired, happy morning full of music and festivity every first Sunday of the month? The only recurring morning festival in the country returns this September to the Sabarmati Riverfront venue, with a stellar standout experience of Hindustani Classical music for listeners to savour! Surprabhat has been active in Ahmedabad since January 2015, and is soon to turn into a national phenomenon.
This 6th of September, stand and take in the magical vibe of an excellent Hindustani Classical performance right at the banks of the Sabarmati, as our previous editions. Renowned artist Shubhada Marathe will render melodious and mellifluous classical singing accompanied by Jajvalya Shukla on tabla & Raju Gandharva on harmonium. They will be performing several khayals & bandish in various meters, based in Raaga Lalit. Some of these will be a Vilambit Khayal in Teen Tal and Drut Madhya Laya Bandish in Eak Tal, followed by Raag Bhatiyar - Vilambit Bandish in Zap Tal and then a bandish in Madhya Lay Teen Tal. What's unique to look out for is her performance of a Bundelkhandi temple prayer song, which has never been showcased on a stage ever before. The event shall conclude with a pious and sombre Nirgun Bhajan as the sun fully rises on the auspicious Sunday morning.
