Strathclyde SKIL's Indian Campus hosts Scottish Education Minister
Strathclyde SKIL Business School, Greater Noida is taking quality education to the next level. SSBS gives Indian students an opportunity of acquiring a foreign degree with an Indian perspective.
- (1888PressRelease) November 21, 2011 - Education Secretary Michael Russell visited the first Indian campus of top Scottish University, Strathclyde at Greater Noida, called Strathclyde SKIL Business School (SSBS).
Addressing a mix of students and business leaders present at the sprawling SSBS campus Mr Russell said "Scottish universities are renowned across the world for the quality of their learning, teaching and research, and Strathclyde is amongst our best."
Strathclyde is among the top 20 B Schools in Europe and is among only 55 worldwide to have the triple accreditations from Association of MBAs (AMBA), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).
Interestingly, Strathclyde Business School was founded in 1947 - the year of Indian Independence, making this association even more significant.
Mr JP Rai, CEO of SKIL, welcomed all the guests. He said, "The one truth in India is that quality education is in demand and will always be in demand. It is going to continue as our young population strives to find the necessary skill sets and the necessary professional capabilities to meet the challenges of the modern world." He went on to talk about how education makes such a difference in India. Every family wants a better future for their child. A quality education will form the foundation for that dream future. SKIL wanted to contribute to this rising need for better education. They shopped around and settled on Strathclyde. "We found that the University of Strathclyde has the open mind and the ability. We have a very large alumni population from Strathclyde in India. We decided that this was the way to go." SSBS is supported by the Scottish Government and this participation paves the way for a meaningful and powerful relationship. More courses will be added to the curriculum. With all these plans in the offing, SSBS is poised at becoming one of the leading institutes in India.
Present in the gathering was the President of the Alumni Association, Mr Arvind Verma. He said he was very excited on Strathclyde bringing its world class teachers and teaching methods to India to make Indian students avail of the same education at a much lower cost. The students will be part of the Global Alumni Association and he looked forward to initiating interactions amongst the alumni and the students at the campus in the coming months.
The Scottish Minister said to education is the key focus area of their government."In fact, education is wired into our DNA." An investment in education benefits more than the individual. It benefits the entire community, especially when the quality of education is top class. "We are establishing a partnership and a bond that sees the delivery of the highest quality of education as the next step forward," Mr. Michael Russell promised.
SSBS is not merely a transplant of the Scottish institute into India. It has been specifically developed to suit both Scotland and India. "It is innovative and I am very much in favour of innovation," he added being very pleased to be a part of the Decade of Innovation in India.
