Stowford Farm Meadows are pleased to have received the Gold Medal in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards for the 10th year running - an astounding achievement for one of the most popular caravan and camping sites in the UK.
(1888PressRelease) January 15, 2014 - The David Bellamy Awards are an indicator of how well a holiday park is working to enhance and protect Britain's natural environment.
The Gold Award recognises the highest level of excellence and was given to Stowford after they were assessed on how they managed their land as a haven for wildlife, their reduced use of energy, water and other resources. Other factors included how well they reduced, reused and recycled the waste they produced; along with how much they supported their local communities.
As one of the longest running green tourism awards in the UK, the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme is designed to get members talking about how the holiday home park industry can provide sustainable environmental solutions instead of being part of the problem.
A company representative for Stowford Farm Meadows said of the award, "This tenth accolade shows that Stowford has once again proven why they are a popular choice to caravan or camp in the North Devon area. The award was given based on regular assessments of the scheme's team of local wildlife experts. Everyone at Stowford Farm Meadows is proud to bear this award and we are pleased to have it represent us as an excellent and environmentally friendly choice, no matter what your idea of a holiday is."
Based in the heart of North Devon, Stowford Farm Meadows was established in 1978 by Winston Rice and his family. Over the past 35 years the site has developed to become a popular place for holidaymakers looking to camp or caravan in the area.
It's not hard to see why. The touring caravan and camping site is set in over 500 acres of rolling Devon countryside, mature woodland and green meadows. Nearby lies the natural beauty of Exmoor National Park, Valley of the Rocks and Lynmouth, known as England's 'Little Switzerland' where visitors can experience some of the most breath-taking coastal scenery in the British Isles.
