- (1888PressRelease) November 10, 2011 - Salt Lake City, Utah - Stevens-Henager College has introduced a new web design and development program targeted at individuals interested in both the front- and back-end of web development.
Although the two terms are often used interchangeably, web design and development are actually different roles.
Web design involves creating the front-end layout of the content on a website or a web page, using graphic arts tools and applications. Web application development, on the other hand, refers to writing the code that goes into the back-end of a website, using different programming languages.
In other words, web applications developers are responsible for serving the content on a website, and graphic designers have the job of presenting this content in a visually appealing manner.
Stevens-Henager College's Bachelor of Science in Web Design and Development is intended to provide graduates with the skills they need for both of these roles. Armed with this degree, graduates will have the skills for both front- and back-end development of web applications, mobile applications, and user interfaces in a variety of consumer electronics.
The courses in this program range from graphic design topics such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash Animation to applications development-related subjects like Programming Fundamentals, Web Programming, Mobile Applications, Java, and more.
In addition to these topics, students also take courses in Logic Structures, College Algebra, Database Administration, etc. to give them a well-rounded education and help further qualify them to pursue entry- to mid-level jobs as graphic designers and web developers in a variety of applications development environments.
This design and development degree is available at the Boise, Logan, Ogden/West Haven, Provo/Orem, and Salt Lake City/Murray campuses of Stevens-Henager College, as well as their satellite locations in Nampa, Layton, and Lehi. Students can also choose to take online classes for this program.
Interested candidates may schedule a personal tour of the campus of their choice to get familiar with the facility as well as meet with a financial planner to identify financial aid for those who qualify.
