Steve Giovinco Selected for Exclusive Fine Art Photographers Collection, the Art Photo Index
Photo Eye Gallery Invites Contemporary Fine Art Photographer Steve Giovinco to Important Index of Major Art Photographers; Include Martin Parr, Brian Ulrich and Others
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) December 16, 2012 - Steve Giovinco, widely exhibiting contemporary fine art photographer and graduate of the Yale University MFA Photography program, is selected for the exclusive Art Photo Index, an index of important art and documentary photographers.
Steve Giovinco was chosen as a result of his major accomplishments, exhibitions and publications in the field of art photography.
Art Photo Index (API) is a collection of carefully vetted art and documentary photographers and their work. API is for discerning curators, gallery directors, publishers, editors, picture researchers, collectors and others who love art and documentary photography. It is organized by photo eye, the established Santa Fe publisher and photography gallery.

Photographers included in Art Photo Index are selected as a result of their accomplishments as fine art photographers. Many of the photographers included have been published by major photobook publishers or featured in art photography magazines. Some have received awards given by various organizations and many are represented by major photography galleries. These include Aperture, Blind Spot, European Photography, Guggenheim Fellowships, Santa Fe Prize and many more.
Steve Giovinco earned his MFA from Yale University, and has been awarded fellowships to attend Yaddo artist residencies numerous times. Museums collecting include Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Brooklyn Museum of Art; solo museum exhibitions include the California Museum of Photography, the Butler Institute of American Art, Fotogalerie Wien, Vienna, the VELAN Center, Torino, Italy, and the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. Steve is represented by Jim Kempner Fine Art in New York, where he has been in numerous exhibitions, including a one person exhibition which was reviewed by Art in America in 2008. Steve's work has been included in exhibitions in Europe and North America at museums and galleries with artists such as Jeff Wall, Sam Taylor Wood, Larry Sultan, and Richard Billingham. Group exhibitions include the Brooklyn Museum, the Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Sadler's Wells, London, with Thomas Joshua Cooper, Exit Art, and was selected by Gregory Crewdson for an exhibition at White Columns in New York. Besides more than a dozen group shows in New York, other gallery shows have been in Spain, Chicago, Miami.
