Indianapolis, IN (1888PressRelease) June 10, 2012 - Tuticorin : Sterlite Copper concluded its week long environment day celebration by organising a grand function at Muthiahpuram on Wednesday.

Mr.M.Murugan, District Environmental Engineer, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) participated as the chief guest of the event and delivered the chief guest address. Ms.F.Kowsalya, Social Worker spoke about the plastic awareness and importance of avoiding plastic usage for environmental protection.

500 fruit saplings were distributed to all the members of women self-help groups who participated in the event. Mr.S.Palpandi, Bird Conservator, Kuthankulam was also felicitated during the event.

As part of the environment day celebrations, week long awareness creation events and competitions were held for all employees and families of Sterlite. Mrs.A.Sumathi, Head - Health, Safety & Environment delivered the key note address and informed the gathering about Sterlite's commitment towards the environment and various initiatives taken by the company to protect the environment.

Mr.T.S.Kumaravel, Assistant Environmental Engineer, TNPCB, Mr.P.Subbiah, Head- Environment and Mr.R.Rajasekarapandy, Head - Corporate Social Responsibility, Sterlite Copper were also present during the event.
