Steinbeck Festival 2013 Theme to be "Home"
Just Announced! The National Steinbeck Center is going to celebrate its 33rd Annual Steinbeck Festival on May 3-5, 2013.
- Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2012 - On May 3-5, 2013, join the National Steinbeck Center to celebrate its 33rd Annual Steinbeck Festival. The Festival Committee has declared "Home" as this year's theme.
We will explore Steinbeck's home - including Salinas, Cannery Row and the Pastures of Heaven. The Festival will feature talks, tours, films, food and the visual and performing arts.
The 33rd Annual Steinbeck Festival is Old Home Week for Steinbeck lovers from across the world and down the street.
"Houses and children and graves, that's home, Tom. Those are the things that hold a man down," said Ma Joad in The Grapes of Wrath.
John Steinbeck was born, raised and buried in the town of Salinas, California that is now home to the National Steinbeck Center. This home was a constant inspiration to him throughout his career as a writer and was the setting for many of his books and short stories.
In 2013, the National Steinbeck Center invites people from around the world to our home for the 33rd Steinbeck Festival for a glimpse into the unique place that so inspired John Steinbeck, but will further consider the concept of home.
This is a great opportunity for all to celebrate the communities of Salinas and beyond. The 2013 Steinbeck Festival highlights those stories that can turn a row of houses into a Home.
