During 2015 visitors and residents of the Commonwealth are guaranteed to find a great ride in one of the many tours, races, and fun rides offered across Virginia in the 2015 riding season.
The www.ibikeva.com website offers a searchable database that can help riders find Virginia cycling events in 2015 to suit their taste and ability. Whether looking for a family friendly event, a mountain bike race, a multiple day tour, a camping event, or a cyclocross race, the calendar helps cyclists connect with activities.
Listings are community driven and submitted through online forms on the website. Bike Virginia works with riders, event organizers, community leaders, and companies to gather details for the calendar. "The goal is to create a calendar full of riding opportunities of all kinds," said Bike Virginia Board Chair Peggy White. Listings are free and provide an overview of events, mapping, and links to social media and website for the activities. The website is paid for through donations, sponsorships, and through event registrations at the annual Bike Virginia Tour.
The easy to use portal improves access to cycling across the commonwealth. The website went live in late 2014 and has been growing its 2015 calendar since inception. In addition to offering a calendar of events, the site includes information on places to ride, groups, and businesses service related to cycling. "We are excited to offer this new online place for people to see all the great cycling activities across the state. There are so many terrific events, something for everyone, and it is nice to help people connect to exciting, healthy things to do," said Executive Director Dr. Kimberly Perry.
