Startup Company Sparqlight Offers Insight on Tech's Role in Job Creation During the DNC
Jobs-creation luncheon and expo sheds light on the jobs crisis, showcases startups as a solution. Sparqlight will showcase its cloud-based enterprise social workflow program and demonstrate how its technology bridges geographical divides and enables companies to hire more qualified workers, regardless of location.
- Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC (1888PressRelease) September 04, 2012 - Sparqlight (www.sparqlight.com), along with dozens of startup companies across the United States, will take part in a showcase of startups featured at two Huffington Post job-creation expos titled Opportunity: What is Working- A Bipartisan Search For Solutions to the Jobs Crisis, taking place during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on September 5. Entrepreneurs and startups represent a move forward for jobs creation and are an important part of the solution to the jobs crisis. Sparqlight will showcase its cloud-based enterprise social workflow program and demonstrate how its technology bridges geographical divides and enables companies to hire more qualified workers, regardless of location.
"In a time of rampant unemployment, the fact that three million jobs have not been filled because applicants don't have the right skills or training is a travesty. Technology is a tool that can bridge geographical divides and enable companies to find and hire the best talent," said Michael Weir, Chief Marketing Officer of Santa Monica-based startup, Sparqlight.
Conversations during the expo will focus on the gap between talent and opportunity and discuss how to bridge that gap by bringing together surpluses of creativity, ingenuity and compassion that can be poured into job creation and help the United States take advantage of the opportunities that are available.
"Enterprise social workflow tools like Sparqlight are improving cross-office communications and allowing companies to hire outside of their geographical location while maintaining efficient work flow," said Weir. "This creates jobs for workers in locations that are full of talent yet lacking jobs, while enabling organizations to fill their offices with the best talent available."
With more than 20 million Americans still unemployed or underemployed, the expo is putting this important issue back to the center of the debate. Hosted by Huffington Post, LinkedIn, StartupHire and a coalition of foundations focused on the larger jobs initiative, the luncheon and expo serves to spotlight the jobs crisis, showcase the role of startups as a solution, and advocate for a discussion during an important part of the political debate.
"I'm glad that this coalition is taking the initiative to bring the issues ahead of the political stage and start working on solutions," continued Weir. "I'm very proud to represent the small business leaders across America working on building businesses that are the backbone of our economy, and also the technologies that will enable companies to bridge geographical divides between talent and opportunity."
The DNC Startup Expo will take place on September 5 at the Ritz Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina.
