Stamps featuring beaches in Israel - The Dead Sea, Sea of Galilee, Caesarea, Tel Aviv and Eilat
Stamps featuring beaches in Israel - The Dead Sea, Sea of Galilee, Caesarea, Tel Aviv and Eilat were launched in the presence of the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his tour Sunday of the Dead Sea region.
- (1888PressRelease) July 10, 2011 - Stamps of the Beaches in Israel, printed by the Philatelic Service of the Israel Postal Company, were launched Sunday (26.6.11) in the presence of the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the Dead Sea region. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov, Minister of Environmental Protection Gilad Erdan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Eli Yishai, Justice Minister Professor Yaacov Neeman, Finance Minister Dr. Yuval Steinitz, Chairman of the Board, Israel Postal Company Sassi Shilo and the Director of the Philatelic Service Yaron Ratzon.
The launch ceremony was held in the Dead Sea at the initiative of the Tourism Ministry during the Prime Minister's visit to the region in order to study the issue of the long-term preservation plans for the area and the New7Wonders of Nature campaign.
Prime Minister Netanyahu noted that "the stamps illustrate the beautiful face of Israel." Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov welcomed the ongoing fruitful cooperation with the Israel Postal Company and the Philatelic Service, adding that "this is one of the original and creative ways in which the Tourism Ministry introduces potential tourists to Israel's landscapes, sites and heritage."
The stamps in the series are dedicated to Israel's stunning beaches which attract tourists from around the world - the Sea of Galilee, Caesarea, Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea and Eilat.
The Dead Sea is one of the finalists in the Seven Natural Wonders of the World campaign.
