Staffordshire Beauty Spa Launches Unique Oncology Treatments for Cancer Patients
Award-winning Beauty Spa, The Treatment Rooms, has introduced a range of inclusive spa treatments, to cater to clients undergoing cancer treatment.
- (1888PressRelease) November 18, 2021 - For many people that have received a cancer diagnosis, wellbeing treatments become off-limits in the usual spa environment. Strict insurances coupled with uncertainty about how treatments should be safely delivered can put both clients and therapists off. However, evidence-based research and medical support has demonstrated that massage treatments can have substantial benefits to people who have either experienced or are undergoing treatment for cancer.
Heather Allen, the Tutbury based Spa owner explains: "There are a plethora of myths surrounding whether massage is safe whilst undergoing cancer treatment and the reality is that it is perfectly safe if adaptations are made. Experts predict that one in two people are going to experience some form of cancer in their lifetime. Sobering news and the main reason why now, more than ever, it is important that at The Treatment Rooms we provide safe and inclusive treatments to those touched by cancer and that we are able to embrace the amazing benefits of massage therapy and to treat those clients safely and effectively.”
These specialist treatments can restore a sense of balance and wellbeing to clients when they need it most. Other benefits can include improved physical and emotional confidence as well as reduced symptoms of pain and discomfort.
Super Star Therapist, Myleigh Richards has undergone training with the registered charity Amethyst Trust who has developed a new approach to treating cancer clients in salons and spas, through the creation of a specialist training course. The course is one of the first to be approved by a leading insurance provider has been approved by the industry Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care (SATCC), HABIA, the Federation of Holistic Therapies (FHT) and endorsed by Penny Brohn UK. Myleigh says, “I am really proud of this opportunity and achievement. In the past clients have only been able to receive massage therapy with a signed referral from their GP, with this endorsed training we are now able to welcome clients and provide treatment without the need for a letter and are fully equipped and insured to do so.”
Heather continues, “There has never been any reason behind the exclusion of people with cancer for massage therapy and anyone who has been affected by cancer will know that all of the hospices throughout the UK provide massage therapies to the benefit of the patients. We also know that there is a strong desire when we are ill to be treated as ‘normal’, to be able to choose where, when and what treatments we would like to have and mostly to be able to put on a brave face to our friends and family. At such times in our clients lives it's a wonderful experience to be able to make a small difference to how they are feeling, giving support and guidance within the remit of the salon or spa.”
