- (1888PressRelease) March 06, 2013 - Bangalore: St. Joseph's Evening College (SJEC) - Bangalore, the only autonomous evening college in India and a part of Jesuit institutions of higher education across the world, will hold an Old Students Alumni meet - Nostalgia - on March 10 (Sunday), 2013 at the college hall to foster a spirit of loyalty and to promote the general welfare of the institution. The programme begins at 9.00 am.
The Rector of the Institution will deliver a message and the director will walk the students about the institution's progress. The day will also see various cultural programmes put by the students. This also provides an opportunity for former students to network among themselves and their families.
Elaborating further, Dr Ambrose Pinto SJ, Director, St Joseph's Evening College said, "Good institutions are known by their Alumni. The former students have been the ambassadors of the college. It is heartening to note that the Alumni is coming together to revitalize the association and infuse new life into it by helping the college to start certificate courses, mentor students, link the placement center of the college with industry. It is equally heartening to know that the Alumni will sponsor poor students in their studies and provide the students the additional inputs to make them employable. While the college feels proud of its Alumni, we offer our Alumni all support in their mission to make our students employable."
Jesuit institutions have been known for their strong Alumni Associations. St. Joseph's Evening College Alumni Association (JECAA) has been active for the past four years providing the former students a platform to reconnect with their alma-mater, the faculty and batch mates to build a strong fellowship. The institution believes that its alumna/alumnae are the pillar of strength to the institution. The focus of the Alumni is also to collaborate and take voluntary support from its former students, and utilize their vast industry knowledge and resource to support college in carrying out various student-centric initiatives, such as offering guest lectures, financial support for deserving students, educational course material support, mentoring support for current students in pursuing their interested career path, creating Job opportunities or job placement support etc.
The homecoming scheduled on 10th of March 2013 will witness gathering of former students of St. Joseph's Evening College at Museum Road, followed by recreational activities. The ticket for the Alumni day has been priced at Rs. 200, and is available at college office.
