- (1888PressRelease) December 23, 2012 - ANAHEIM, Calif. - St. Catherine's Academy, an Orange County Catholic school, celebrated the Christmas season with two very special traditions on December 21, 2012: The Christmas Program and Christmas Drill. Both traditions date back to the St. Catherine's earliest days as an Academy. St. Catherine's Academy is Orange County's first Catholic school.
The annual Christmas Program, which was held in the Academy's chapel, is a holiday play in which all of St. Catherine's 160 students participated. This year the play is Christmas Caper - a mysterious telling of the Christmas story. Several cadets had large rolls including voice solos. The Christmas Program concluded with a living Nativity scene by the kindergarten through third graders.
Christmas Drill, which was held on the parade field, included a complete regimental march, a drill competition, a concert by the Marching Knights band, and monthly reports. Christmas Drill is the Cadet Regimental Commander's first official chance to present his cadet corps to the parents, alumni, and friends of St. Catherine's after a semester of practice and training.
St. Catherine's Academy, founded in 1889 by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, is an Catholic school located in Orange County with a military tradition for boys in kindergarten through 8th grade. The school offers both day and boarding opportunities.
