San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) November 19, 2012 - SSI-Racing (SSI) is building an Electric Indy car for Earth Day 2013. It will premier at the Long Beach Grand Prix running exhibition laps, then begin a year long tour.
This is SSI's fourteenth electric drive conversion, including three race cars and a land speed motorcycle, all of which set world records. SSI has designed and converted seven additional non-racing vehicles, and designed and supervised the conversion of two more including a Class 8 semi-tractor.
The design for this car has evolved over four years of racing and includes:
Two-motor system that will produce over 700 hp and 200 mph
750,000 watt battery system
10,000 watt sound system for Doppler effects and concerts
This car represents disruptive technology and will receive disproportionate national attention. The car should set multiple electric vehicle records throughout the year.
