Carnival & Agrigento's Almond Blossom Festival in Sicily - Casa D'Eraclea in southern Sicily, Italy. SoloSicily.com, villas in Sicily to rent.
(1888PressRelease) January 25, 2009 - Get a real flavour for Sicily by visiting the island in February when two of the island's most popular events - Agrigento's Almond Blossom Festival and the Carnival of Sciacca - take place. Casa d'Eraclea, the stunning new addition to soloSicily's portfolio, is situated half-way between the two towns on Sicily's south coast.
Agrigento's Almond Blossom Festival takes place during the first half of February in the breathtaking Valley of the Temples. The celebrations, which include costumed parades, shows and concerts, are attended by folklore groups from around the world.
The Carnival of Sciacca is the most popular carnival in Sicily, renowned for its procession which takes place every day from Saturday to Tuesday. Join the throng clamouring for the distribution by 'Peppe Nappa", the King of the Carnival, of sweets, wine, and salami and then watch him go up in smoke at the end of the Carnival.
Casa d'Eraclea is located about 30 kms from Agrigento and a short drive from Sciacca and the Valley of the Temples. Positioned on the brow of a hill, the house overlooks the sea to the south west of the island and is just a 10-minute walk to the beach. Outside, an infinity pool is surrounded by large areas of decking and overlooked by a covered eating area; inside, the modern interior is bright and spacious with sharp, clean lines and bold colours - white and orange walls, with splashes of yellow and blue from soft furnishings.
One week at Casa d'Eraclea in February starts at 1820 euro (sleeps 6) with http://www.solosicily.com, tel. 0044 (0)20 7097 1413.
