Sportscapers constructs turf football field at Fort Bend Baptist Academy
The athletic design firm takes the school's existing field from old and faded to new and inspiring for Fort Bend Baptist athletes by creating a synthetic turf field
- Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2010 - Sportscapers has helped put a new spring in the step of Fort Bend Baptist Academy athletes by creating a synthetic turf football field for the school. The school commissioned the Texas athletic design firm to breathe new life into its existing worn athletic field and with just a few weeks of work, Sportscapers had the school's athletes up and running--on new turf that is.
The Sugar Land, TX school had completed construction on its orginal $3 million dollar stadium and field house during the 2009 Fall semester, and played its inaugural season home football games on campus for the first time in the school's history. However the natural turf surface which had been in place for many years didn't hold up well under play and weather conditions, resulting in the cancelation of several games and community events. The school even had to utilize rented fields to accommodate FBBA's middle school and high school soccer programs.
Now with the new Sportscapers synthetic turf football field, the school has already received requests from community groups representing youth football, soccer and lacrosse presenting FBBA with potential revenue and marketing opportunities, said Athletic Director Bill Bufton.
"This turf project will increase our ability to host events and serve not only our Fort Bend Baptist Academy families, but also the entire Fort Bend County community," Bufton said. "We anticipate the increased community use and campus exposure will strengthen student recruitment and attract corporate sponsorships," he said.
