Spirit Of Giving Appoints Wendy Friswell As New Executive Director
Friswell brings a wealth of knowledge and nonprofit management experience to the collaborative, nonprofit organization with a focus on children and families in Palm Beach County.
- Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) March 04, 2015 - Spirit of Giving-a collaborative, nonprofit organization with a focus on children and families in Palm Beach County-announces that it has appointed Wendy Friswell as its new executive director. In her role, Friswell continues the mission of Spirit of Giving, channeling her experience in non-profit management experience from previous positions at the YMCA, Twin Palms Center for the Disabled and American Association of Caregiving Youth.
"We are thrilled that Wendy has joined Spirit of Giving as our new executive director," says President Doug Patton. "She brings to the table a wealth of nonprofit experience and incredible talent and is truly passionate about Spirit of Giving's mission: encouraging community collaboration."

As executive director, Friswell provides support for Spirit of Giving's 60 member non-profits, strengthens SOG community partnerships, promotes volunteerism and grows nonprofit training programs. She continues to collaborate with community nonprofits for the Back to School Bash, recruitment and placement of volunteers, Holiday Gift Drive, ESPN Boca Bowl and educational workshops. In addition, Friswell works closely with the board of directors to grow the Spirit of Giving Forum, where nonprofits and community supporters share information, resources and best practices.
Originally from Trinidad, Friswell attended high school in Philadelphia, after which she earned her bachelor's degree from Temple University and a master's degree in recreation management from Florida International University. In addition, Friswell spent 10 years with Dade County Parks and Recreation Department and holds a wellness coach certification from the American College of Sports Medicine. She has volunteered with the Boating and Beach Bash for People with Disability and has served on the City of Boca Advisory Board for People with Disability for three years. Friswell currently resides in Boca Raton with her husband David, daughter Michelle and son Ryan.
