More than 4,000 economically disadvantaged K-12 students and their families will be assisted by the invite-only event with free school supplies, backpacks, vision screenings, haircuts, and more.
- West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) April 24, 2015 - The Spirit of Giving is thrilled to announce that its annual Back To School Bash, an invite-only event that aims to prepare children for the upcoming school year by providing them with all the supplies they will need for school, will take place Saturday, August 8th at the Delray Beach Village Academy. The Back to School Bash aims to provide local children with new backpacks full of grade-appropriate supplies, uniforms, new shoes, haircuts, healthy snacks, vision screenings and access to medical resources and information. At the event, students will be paired with a volunteer personal shopper to assist them in selecting their own backpack and supplies. The Spirit of Giving-a collaborative, nonprofit organization with a focus on children and families in Palm Beach County-utilizes its 60 nonprofit member organizations for this event to provide supplies to more than 4,000 local at-risk children. Boca Raton Regional Hospital will also return to hold their Family Health Carnival, which is open to the public and will feature health resources, education, and screenings.
"Many people perceive Boca Raton as a very affluent community of families, but truthfully there are many living in Southern Palm Beach County who can't even afford to buy their child a pair of fitted shoes," says Wendy Friswell, Executive Director of Spirit of Giving. "Spirit of Giving is dedicated to helping thousands of economically disadvantaged children and their families prepare for academic success in the new school year. We invite every member of the community to help by volunteering at the event or becoming a sponsor."
According to the National Retail Federation, in 2014 the average family needed to spend $606 to prepare just a single child for school, a figure that is increasing each year. Spirt of Giving is currently in the process of securing sponsors and volunteers for the early August event, and with multiple different sponsorship opportunities and volunteer spots available, it is easy for anyone to get involved.
Beginning at just $500 and ranging up to $15,000, all donations support a specific program for the Back to School Bash to ensure all children are prepared for a new school year. For $15,000, become the Supplies Sponsor and have your company headline the bash. At $10,000, the Backpacks Sponsor will cover the costs of all backpacks for the children, while $5,000 will cover the cost of all uniforms as Uniforms Sponsor. Donating $2,500 as the Volunteer Sponsor covers the cost of snacks and t-shirts for all event volunteers. A $1,000 donation allows donors to choose between Vision Testing Sponsor, providing children with a vision test as well as any necessary glasses and frames, Healthy Snacks Sponsor, covering the cost of educating children to choose healthy snacks, or Haircut Sponsor, covering the cost of the stylists who provide free haircuts at event. Lastly, companies can donate $500 for the Sponsor A Child sponsorship and cover the cost of 5 children's backpacks and supplies. Sponsorships are available on a first come first serve basis. All sponsors will have their names and logos on all press releases, printed materials and website, and will also receive a tax-deductible thank you later.
Spirit of Giving relies heavily on donations as well as its member organizations to help fulfill the needs of the event's children. In Jacob's Shoes, a non-profit that provides new and gently-worn shoes to disadvantaged youth, is asking the community to donate new and gently-used shoes for the upcoming event. With over 4,000 pairs of feet at the Back to School Bash needing fitted shoes, all brands and sizes are requested.
The annual invite-only Back to School Bash serving Southern Palm Beach County children will be held Saturday, August 8th from 9am-3pm at the Delray Beach Village Academy. For more information on how to become a sponsor, please email info ( @ ) spiritofgivingnetwork dot com dot
