Spider man Speaks! Spiders 3D's Award Winning Screen writer Joseph Farrugia talks about all things Spiders
Spiders 3D writer Joseph Farrugia talks about upcoming Phillip K Dick Film Festival and creating Spiders 3D.
- (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2012 - Los Angeles - Spiders 3D Screenwriter Joseph Farruggia has announced that his Award Winning feature Spiders 3D is an official selection of the upcoming Phillip K Dick Film Festival.
"I'm beyond honored that Spiders 3D will be playing at an event that carries the prestige of the Phillip K Dick name. When writing the film with Tibor Takacs we worked hard to ensure the integrity of the science fiction world that we were creating."
"Since we were creating a science fiction story that takes place in modern day New York. We took special care to work with existing elements such as old Soviet space craft that have been abandoned in space, the problem of space junk that actually regularly falls to earth and what that might look like if there was some odd space experiment that made it to earth. Of course we added a few extra twists of fiction in order to create a believable mythology that would support our giant Spiders."
I was really pleased that Director Tibor Takacs working with Stereographer 3D Phil (Philip Brown) used the 3D film's richness to create an almost modern noir feel that really works when shooting the streets of New York. The style of noir shooting further grounds the science fiction elements of the story in reality.
"I guess that what the judges of the Los Angeles 3D Film Festival had seen when choosing to award Spiders 3D Best 3D feature and Tibor Best Director. I've got to say, it's kind of a kick to be able to say my new movie is an award winning feature. "
As far as future projects Tibor and I are working on a kind of cool Spy action thriller with that has some of the same themes in it that Phillip K Dick used in his work. I'm very grateful to be working with Tibor and the folks over at Millennium / Nu Image they are a great group to work with"
Following the crash of a derelict Soviet space station into a Manhattan subway tunnel, a new species of spider is discovered in the wreckage. When the spiders mutate to gigantic proportions, an MTA subway employee has to save his family and all of New York City from destruction.
Directed by Tibor Takacs (The Gate, I, Madman), SPIDERS 3D stars Patrick Muldoon (Starship Troopers, Stigmata), Christa Campbell (Drive Angry, The Mechanic), William Hope (Aliens, Dark Shadows), Pete Lee Wilson (Blade II) Jon Mack (Saw VI) and Sydney Sweeney (The Ward).
Written by Joseph Farruggia (Baby Face Nelson, Born Bad) and Tibor Takacs, SPIDERS 3D was produced by Boaz Davidson and Israel Ringel and executive produced by Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Lati Grobman."
Screening Details: "Running December 7th through the 9th, The Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival celebrates their love of science fiction and metaphysics in cinema. The festival will be held at the Indie Screen Theater in Brooklyn (289 Kent Ave at S. 2 Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn 11211) with SPIDERS 3D slated to screen at 10:20 pm on Friday, December 7th.
