Special Materials Company (SMC) Announces PCBTF (para-chlorobenzotrifluoride) Price Increases and Order Allocation
SMC to increase prices of its PCBTF (para-chlorobenzotrifluoride) and implementing order allocation as contracts allow. The price increase is driven by a significant increase of major raw materials, energy, and transportation costs.
- (1888PressRelease) April 26, 2011 - Special Materials Company (SMC) announces that PCBTF is on order allocation, effective May 1, 2011 and implementing a 15% price increase immediately or as contracts allow.
These actions are necessary to respond to significant increases in energy, freight and raw material costs. Supply of PCBTF has been complicated by production problems and consequent availability of p-chlorotoluene (PCT), a key raw material used to manufacture PCBTF.
According to Diane Tramontana, SMC's Compliance Solution's Product Manager," we expect this situation to continue into the third quarter of 2011. We are putting all our available resources in US, Europe and China to develop more information and work to minimize these cost changes and will keep our customers apprised of new information and price relief as soon as it is developed."
