  • (1888PressRelease) November 14, 2019 - Singapore - Winners of the SPBA China 2019 joined in on the celebrations at the 18th Singapore Prestige Brand Award (SPBA) Award Presentation Ceremony. During the ceremony, Winners have also conferred award trophies for their achievements. Held at The Ritz-Carlton, the event was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Ng Chee Meng.

    The Winners of the SPBA China 2019 comprise 14 renowned brands with the likes of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Haidilao, Huawei, 360 and BreadTalk. Having made its first foray into China this year, the Award has 3 main categories that were specially customized for the Chinese market: SPBA - China Prestige Brands, SPBA - Asia Prestige Brands and SPBA - China Top 10 Leading Brands. Winners across these 3 categories have swiftly integrated innovation, transformation, and internationalization into their brand strategies to secure long-term growth, affirming their position as credible and trusted brands in the market.

    This year, the SPBA was introduced to the Chinese market in hopes of providing a dynamic platform for recognizing brands that have done well in China. Along with that, the SPBA China 2019 Organising Committee also seeks to encourage the sharing of relevant market expertise between both Chinese and Singapore brands, cementing strong friendships between the business communities in both countries.

    Mr. Kurt Wee, President of ASME, said, “Over the past 18 years of the SPBA, we have witnessed the growth and transformation of many of our Singapore brands, some of which have successfully ventured overseas.     SPBA CHINA 2019 AWARD CATEGORIES

    The SPBA China 2019 comprises of three Award Categories:

    1. SPBA – China Prestige Brands
    The Brand must have been established for at least 3 years and have an annual turnover exceeding 100 million yuan.
    2. SPBA – Asia Prestige Brands
    The Brand# must have successfully penetrated and established a significant presence in China and at least 4 other Asian markets*. The group’s total sales must exceed RMB 1 billion or USD 150 million.
    3. SPBA – China Top 10 Leading Brands
    Participation in this category is strictly by the Award Organising Committee’s invitation-only, and invited brands are acclaimed leaders of their industry.
    Note: * “Asian market” is defined as “a country OR a city in Asia with a population exceeding 5 million”

    # The participating brand must be founded in Asia.

    Inaugurated by the Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME) and Lianhe Zaobao since 2002, and supported by Enterprise Singapore and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), the Singapore Prestige Brand Award (SPBA) is a prestigious award that recognises and celebrates enterprises who have leveraged branding for effective business growth locally and overseas.

    Beyond an award, SPBA has been a valuable platform to exchange insights across industries and markets. In 2019, marking 18 years of the award’s history, we are bringing SPBA (the Award) to China. This Award seeks to provide a solid dynamic platform to recognize brands who have done exceptionally well in China, to share relevant market expertise and to foster strong friendships within Asia.
