Spay And Neuter Project Aims To Make Community Safer For 90003 Zip Code
LAPD will target 90003 Zip Code, with help from local shelter, rescue and spay and neuter organizations, to fix 75 - 80 dogs in the area. The efforts hope to make Los Angeles safer for residents and pets.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) August 15, 2012 - On Saturday August 25th 2012, Downtown Dog Rescue, The Amanda Foundation, LA Animal Services and the LAPD will target the 90003 zip code to make a dent in the most intake, stray dog problem for all breed dogs in the greater Los Angeles area. Free spay and neuter services will be offered to approximately 75-80 dogs. Pit bulls and Chihuahuas will make up most of the breeds that will be fixed during the community project.
The event will take place at 7600 South Broadway Los Angeles 90003 on August 25, 2012. LAPD will block off 76th street to allow space for this project, which will have a family street faire feel. Canine Good citizenship certification will be given to all spay and neuter participants.
Teri Austin with the Amanda Foundation, who has operated the most successful spay clinic in the nation, will be on hand to support the efforts of the grassroots rescues that have organized this event. Other groups who are participating include Karma Rescue, Angel City Pits, Lu Parker Project, SAAFLA Puppy Imprinters and Halo Foods is donating 1600 lbs of dog food to give away.
Lori Weise with Downtown Dog Rescue noted, "My goal is to provide more resources for the dog owners living in 90003 by including community leaders and local Los Angeles Rescue groups, like the Amanda Foundation. Our hopes are that this project will help make the community safer for all residents in 90003." The street faire themed event will include a face painter and books to give away for all the children, plus free dog training tips, agility demonstrations, microchips and free giveaways for your family pet.
