SpaceTek announces appointment of former NASA Astronaut, Clayton Anderson, as Brand Ambassador
Former NASA Astronaut, Clayton Anderson appointed as Brand Ambassador and Technical Advisor for Giorgio Fedon's Space Watch in conjunction with SpaceTek.
- (1888PressRelease) August 23, 2014 - Stiphan Beher, CEO of SpaceTek announced the appointment of former NASA Astronaut, Clayton Anderson as Brand Ambassador for SpaceTek's partnership with Giorgio Fedon 1919. Stiphan Beher stated "We are excited by the addition of Clayton Anderson, having had such an illustrious career with NASA which spanned fifteen years. Clayton will utilize his expertise in Space to support future designs of our Space Explorer watches."
Clayton Anderson, retired from NASA in 2013, after serving fifteen years as an Astronaut, joining in 1998. He has spent over 166 days in space and of which 152 days were on the International Space Station. Mr. Anderson is also credited with performing six spacewalks (EVAs) totaling over 36 hours.
SpaceTek will operate a Salyut Space Station under a joint venture agreement. The Station will be capable of accommodating up to seven crew in a volume of 90 cubic meters for periods up to six months and will orbit at 250 miles above Earth. The Space Station is built by Russian rocketry company NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM) and is currently based in the United Kingdom. SpaceTek's mission is to progress the opening of space for private enterprise. The firm is developing infrastructure essential to rapidly accelerate the commercial space industry and its applicability to the global marketplace.
Giorgio Fedon 1919 is an Italian fashion house which was established in 1919. They have expanded into the luxury watch market under a licensing agreement with Modern Watch Company, headed by Hong Kong businessman, Ramesh Jhunjhnuwala. They formed a marketing agreement with SpaceTek for the development of a Space Watch to be worn by future crews based on the Space Station.
