Southwest Solutions Group Awarded Botanical Research Institute of Texas, Inc. Archival/Research Compact Storage System Contract
Southwest Solutions Group announced today that it was awarded the contract by Botanical Research Institute of Texas, Inc.(BRIT) to install a new Spacesaver Compact High-Density Storage System into their Herbarium Collections and Research facility.
- Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) February 22, 2011 - Southwest Solutions Group worked with The Projects Group and Corgan Design to design and equip BRIT with a state-of-the-art compact high-density storage system for their collections of plant specimens and research library in Fort Worth, TX.
BRIT's new herbarium is a two-story, 20,000-square-foot climate-controlled building, with the remaining 5,000 square feet for research and BRIT's library. BRIT will seek the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ Platinum certification for its new facility.
The new Spacesaver Compact High-Density Storage System will save an estimated 6,100 square feet of floor space and $1.83 million dollars in construction costs1, contributing to LEED certification for sustainable design by reducing the size of the Developmental Footprint (Category 1 of LEED 3.0). The Spacesaver Compact Storage System will save an estimated $48,800 in annual energy costs2 to cool, heat, and maintain the building, contributing to Energy & Atmosphere to Optimize Energy Performance (Category 3 of LEED 3.0).
